24 Hours

A4 Drawing Paper | Colour Pencil | 2020

No matter what state we are in, we always feel like time is flying by. We never feel we have the time we need. At the beginning of 2020, when the virus broke out, imposed or voluntarily, we experienced a lockdown. We were trapped in our own world, the rules of time and space were broken. Many of our lives were suddenly turned upside-down. Our perception of 24 hours has been altered in ways we could not have imagined.

My world was framed by the window. I was sitting on the sofa in my student accommodation, doing nothing, absent minded, just watching the moon and the sun rotate around the same scene. I had never thought that the same view could be so different, every occasion bought about a uniquely beautiful scene. Every drop of rain, every ray of light in London, was so fresh and alive. Through this narrow passage, I felt like I was seeing the intangibility of time,  the reincarnation of days, seasons, and the infinity of our universe.

Perhaps we do not need to look forward, to the magnificent scenery far away. The fascinating, touching details are happening around us. Every second, every moment, every hour…
